Tip #1 - The Double

  • You may notice gems 3 & 4 and want to exchange them first. But wait....
  • ... swap #1 & #2 instead
  • The diamonds will match and disappear for 10pts
  • The triangles above gem 3 will drop down and make a match with #4 for an extra 20pts

Tip #2 - Four-In-a-Row

  • Sometimes it is easy to go fast and miss some potentially great moves.
  • Blue gems 3 & 4 catch the eye quickly. Resist swapping them.
  • Instead, swap #1 & 2 for a four gem for twice as many points.

Tip #3 - The Setup

  • Setting yourself up for the next gem exchange is important at higher levels when matches become harder to make.
  • To set yourself up for two match possibilities in a row, first swap #1 & #2
  • #3 & 4 will then drop down & are available to be swapped with each other to create a second match of orange gems on the next turn

Tip #4 - The Setup (Example 2)

  • Swap 1 & 2
  • #3 will then drop three positions and land on top of gem #4
  • #5 will then be available for swapping with whatever gem comes down on #3 for the second consecutive match.

Tip #5 - Instant Double

  • A fast player may notice #1 & 2 and make a simple match....
  • ...overlooking #3 & 4 that can be swapped for an instant double.

Tip #6 - 2 Match Setup and Double

  • (Picture A) I have a sneaking suspicion that there's something good here. Way too many yellows in one place. Hmmm....
  • I think I can position myself for a double in two moves.
  • I first swap #1 & 2 for the first match. #1 will then be positioned under #3 (Picture B)

  • I then swap #3 and #1 for a match and position #3 one spot down...

  • ...allowing me to swap #3 with #4 for a quick double match!

Tip #7 - Single & Double

  • There are a few possibilities here and the right order is crucial.
  • 1 & 2 can be exchanged for the first match
  • Swapping 3 & 4 will cause another match and allow gem 2 to fall on gem 5 to complete the double

Tip #8 - Double + Single

  • So many options...including 3 four in a rows! How can we take advantage of this?
  • A double match (four in a row + standard) can be attained by swapping 1 & 2 first. Gem 3 will fall on Gem 4 to get the standard match and finish the double.
  • On the next move, you can swap 5 & 6 for another single match.

Tip #9 - Another Double

  • It may not look it at first, but we can get a doulbe here
  • Swap 1 & 2. The diamonds will disappear, causing 3 & 4 to fall down and match with #2 for the double!

Scoring by Level (relevant to classic bejeweled)

Scoring in Bejeweled is based on what level you are on, how many gems you match, and how many chain reaction matches you make. Here is the scoring for level 1:

  • Match of 3 - 10pts
  • Match of 4 - 20pts
  • Match of 5 - 30pts
  • Match of 6 - 50pts
  • 2 matches in a row - 10 bonus pts. (added on to pts for each match)
  • 3 matches in a row - 20 bonus pts.
  • 4 matches in a row - 30 bonus pts.
  • 5 matches in a row - 50 bonus pts.
  • 6 matches in a row - 70 bonus pts.
  • 7 matches in a row - 100 bonus pts.
  • 8 matches in a row - 150 bonus pts.
  • Anything higher - 200 bonus pts.

For example, if you make two matches of three gems you get 10 pts for the first match + 10 pts for the second match + 10 bonus pts. Also, for each level you progress to, you get to multiply the above values.

  • Level 2 - Multiply by 1.5
  • Level 3 - Multiply by 2
  • Level 4 - Multiply by 2.5
  • Level 5 - Multiply by 3
  • Level 6 - Multiply by 3.5
  • Level 7 - Multiply by 4
  • Level 8 - Multiply by 4.5
  • Level 9 - ?

For instance, a match on level 2 is worth 15 pts, on level 3 - 20 pts, and so on. The multiplier also applies to the bonus points as well. Therefore, once you get up to really high levels, you get a ton of points due to the multiplier.
